Brussels Extraordinary European Council, 11/03/2011

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, and the Heads of State or Government of the EU met in Brussels for an extraordinary European Council convened by Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council. Discussions focused on the Southern Mediterranean, especially the situation in Libya. Both Presidents also expressed their solidarity after the terrible earthquake in Japan.
