Visit of a delegation from the Russian government to the EC
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and the College of the EC hosted a delegation from the Russian Government led by Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister. Discussions focused on the full range of relations between EU and Russia, on support to Russia's modernization process, trade and energy matters, and on deeper technological cooperation to international affairs.
This visit was the occasion to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on an enlarged Early Warning Mechanism, including a Joint Statement to create a Joint Gas Advisory Group and Gas Centre to give recommendations on opportunities and risks for the long-term development of gas markets; a Joint Statement on Information Exchange within the EU-Russia Dialogue; and a Common Understanding on the EU-Russia roadmap until 2050.
