Informal Meeting of Ministers for Development Cooperation of the EU

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, and Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, took part in the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Development Cooperation of the EU, in the presence of Charles Michel, Acting Belgian Minister for Development Cooperation and President in office of the Council. The EU's development policy aims to complement those of the Member States. Its main objective are to promote the sustainable economic and social development of developing countries, particularly the least developed countries, as well as to support the progressive integration of these countries into the world economy and to eradicate poverty.
