José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the 8th European Business Summit together with Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Digital Agenda, Janez Potočnik, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, Karel De Gucht, Member of the EC in charge of Trade, John Dalli, Member of the EC in charge of Health and Consumer Policy, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Member of the EC in charge of Research, Innovation and Science, Günther Oettinger, Member of the EC in charge of Energy, Connie Hedegaard, Member of the EC in charge of Climate Action, and László Andor, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. The main theme was "New Skills for New Jobs". The importance of skills for Europe in the future, and the key actions needed to support skills upgrading and a better match between skills and jobs were discussed.
