Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, went the headquarters of the United Nations, in New York, where she was received by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, and then by John Holmes, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, with whom she discussed the situation in Haiti. Catherine Ashton also met with Pedro Serrano, acting Head of the Delegation of the EU to the United Nations.
