Brussels Extraordinary European Council, 19/11/2009

The EU Heads of State and Government gathered in Brussels, under the presidency of Fredrik Reinfeldt, Swedish Prime Minister and President in office of the Council of the EU, for a extraordinary meeting in order to appoint Herman van Rompuy, Belgian Prime Minister, as the President of the European Council for two years and a half, and Catherine Ashton, Member of the EC in charge of Trade, as the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
