The dam of Saint-Dalmas, an example of hydropower

Hydroelectricity is the renewable energy source most used in the world. The principle is to create a reservoir by damming the flow of a river, and use the potential energy of water accumulated. The Saint-Dalmas power station is ranked among the medium-power hydroelectric plants with a capacity of 50 MW. The reservoir (the Lac des Mesches) is situated at an altitude of 1370 metres and the plant was built below at an altitude of 646 metres.
