Brussels European Council, 18-19/06/2009

EU Heads of State or Government met in Brussels for the last European Council of the Czech Presidency. During the meeting, they agreed on legal guarantees designed to respond to concerns raised by the Irish people regarding the Lisbon Treaty. The Council took a number of decisions intended to lead to the creation of a new financial supervisory architecture. European leaders also agreed on a number of measures in order to help the Member States in the frontline to respond to the influx of illegal immigrants.
