Immigration: Lampedusa

Between January and August 2008, nearly 20 000 people made the perilous overland journey from the coasts of Libya or Tunisia, to brave the Mediterranean Sea to enter Europe. The accommodation centre of Lampedusa was built with the EU subsidies.
