Press conference by Neelie Kroes, Member of the EC, on the fines inflicted on wax producers
Neelie Kroes, Member of the EC in charge of Competition, presented the fine inflicted by the EC of a total amount of 676 011 400 (euros?) on 9 groups (ENI, ExxonMobil, Hansen & Rosenthal, Tudapetrol, MOL, Repsol, Sasol, RWE et Total) for having taken part, between 1992 and 2005, in an understandement on the paraffin wax market in the European Economic Area (EEA), violating the prohibition of understandings and restrictive commercial practices provided by the EC Treaty (article 81). No fine was inflicted on Shell, that also took part in the understanding but revealed its existence to the Commission.
