Participation of José Manuel Barroso and Benita Ferrero-Waldner, in the Paris Summit for the Mediterranean

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, took part in the launch of the "Barcelona Process: an Union for the Mediterranean" during a summit organized by the French Presidency of the European Union that gathered heads of states and gorvernments of the EU and the Mediterranean and the EC. The aim of the Union for the Mediterranean is to deepen and reorient the original objectives of the Barcelona declaration on the creation of area of peace, security and prosperity.
