Mariann Fischer Boel, member of the EC in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, a European Union-wide scheme to provide free fruit and vegetables to school children at an event at the Falkenhausschule in Germany. Indeed, European funds worth 90 million every year would pay for the purchase and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables to schools, completed with National funds fom the countries taking part in the program. The School Fruit Scheme aims to encourage good eating habits in young people.
