European Council in Brussels, 19-20/06/2008

The Heads of States and governments of the EU met for a European Council of the EU under the Presidency of Janez Janša, Slovenian Prime Minister. Despite the Irish "no" to the Lisbon Treaty, the Member-States demonstrated their will to pursue the process of ratification of the Treaty. The European leaders have decided, on Ireland's request, to revert to the institutional issue in a meeting on the 15th of October 2008. Several leads were also discussed, on a national and a Community level, to fight against the sharp rise in prices.
