Participation of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, in the public debate "Discourses on Europe"
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Meglena Kuneva, Member of the EC in charge of Consumer Protection, participated in the public debate "Discourses on Europe" organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). The idea was for European intellectuals and artists to meet decision-makers from the political and economic worlds and civil society in order to share their views and their suggestions regarding Europe and its development. The prominent speaker in the debate was the German film director, Wim Wenders.
Also present were: Dimitris Dimitriadis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee, Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the EP, Michael Zeeman, Dutch philosopher, writer, TV journalist and critic.
