José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, and Javier Solana, Secretary-General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), took part in the EU/Canada Summit. Angela Merkel, German Federal Chancellor, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sigmar Gabriel, German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Stephen Harper, Canadian Prime Minister, and John Baird, Canadian Minister of the Environment, were also present.
