Informal European Council of Berlin

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and the Heads of European Governments, accompanied with their wives, went to Berlin on the invitation of Angela Merkel, German Federal Chancellor and President in office of the Council of the EU. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, the Berlin declaration was signed, a commemorative coin was issued and a stamp printed. A party, with national cultural stands, music and fireworks, was organised.
