The European Commission recognised for its efforts to green its activities
Successful efforts by the European Commission to green its activities have been recognised with four of its departments receiving 'EMAS registration'. The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is the EU voluntary instrument which acknowledges organisations that improve their environmental performance on a continuous basis. Evelyne Huytebroeck, Minister for Environment, Energy and Water Policy of the Region of Brussels-Capitale, Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Administrative Affairs, Audit and Anti-Fraud, and Stavros Dimas, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, took part to the event.
