Signature of an EU/Switzerland memorandum of understanding on the financing of projects in the new Member States
Micheline Calmy-Rey, Head of the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs, Ursula Plassnik, Austrian Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, and Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, signed a memorandum of understanding setting up the arrangements by which Switzerland will finance projects in the new EU Member States for a total amount of one billion Swiss Francs (about 645 million euro) over a period of five years.
