Launch by Viviane Reding, Member of the EC, of the new Internet domain name for Europe: ".eu".
The ".eu" top-level domain, enabling the companies, the public bodies and the private individuals to choose a pan-European Internet name for their web and their electronic addresses sites was open. Viviane Reding, Member of the EC in charge of Information Society and Media, said at the press conference: "I expect Europe's top level domain .eu to become similarly important as .com".
