Louis Michel, Member of the EC in charge of Development and Humanitarian Aid, went to the EP to support the Global Call to Action Against Poverty: Making Poverty History. He signed the 'White Band' for the fight against poverty along with Arjun Karki, Spokesman of the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (GCAP), Josep Borrell Fontelles, President of the EP, Jack Straw, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and President in office of the Council, and Luisa Morgantini, Member of the EP and Chairwoman of the Development Committee.
