13th EU/Japan Summit
Romano Prodi, President of the EC, took part to the 13th EU/Japan Summit. The meeting was hosted by Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan whilst the Irish Prime Minister and President of the European Council, Bertie Ahern, was heading the EU delegation. Discussions centred on issues such as: co-operation on disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the fight against terrorism, and the current situations in the Middle East and on the Korean Peninsula. Discussions were also on EU/Japan Action Plan agreed in 2001, implementation of the Trade and economic co-operation on which a new co-operation framework was adopted, and on the environment.
