Brussels European Council, 17-18/06/2004

The Heads of State or government of the countries of the EU met in order to discuss the draft Constitution, in particular ten residual points presented by the Irish Presidency of the Council. Other important subject was the appointment of the new President of the EC, to replace Romano Prodi, but no decision was made. On the other hand, the adoption of the European draft Constitution can be seen as an historical fact and an important projection in European integration. Other issues on the agenda of this European Council were: justice, home affairs and external relations.
