Dinner in the honour of Christian Herter, Special Representative to the US President

A dinner was given at the Château de Val-Duchesse Walter Hallstein, President of the Commission of the EEC, in the honour of Christian Herter, Special Representative to Lyndon B. Johnson, President of the United States. Attendees to the dinner included H. W. Tuthill, Head of the Mission of the United States to the EC, W. M. Blumenthal, Head of the US Delegation to GATT negotiations. Members of the Commission who were present included Sicco Mansholt, Vice-President of the Commission of the EEC in charge of Agriculture (President of the group), Robert Marjolin, Vice-President of the Commission of the EEC, Jean Rey, Member of the Commission of the EEC in charge of External Relations (President of the group), Hans von der Groeben, Member of the Commission of the EEC in charge of Competition (President of the group), and Lambert Schaus, Member of the Commission of the EEC.
A meeting had been held previously between Christian Herter and US representatives on the one hand, and Jean Rey, Robert Marjolin and a number of EC civil servants on the other hand.
