Special meeting of the EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs on the situation in the Middle East
Romano Prodi, President of the EC, went to the emergency meeting of the EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs because of the situation in the Middle East. The most likely outcome of the meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers, called in Luxembourg, is for the Fifteen to send a “troika” to try arbitration in the Middle East. The “troika” will be made up of Josep Piqué i Camps, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and Per Stig Møller, Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Denmark holding the next Presidency of the EU.
