Laeken European Council, 14-15/12/2001

The conclusions of the Laeken European Council (14-15/12/2001) focused on the future of the Union, with notably the convening of a Convention, charged with the reform of the insitutions; the Union's actions following the September 11 attacks in the United States; economic social evolution and sustainable development; the reinforcement of the space for liberty, security and justice and external relations. Demonstrations took place in the margins of the Council.
