Main topics of discussion were preparations for putting the euro into circulation, the economic impact of recent terrorist attacks and a debate on the future of Europe followed by the launch of the Laeken declaration. The Informal European Council ended with a working dinner where the two main topics of discussion were enlargement negotiations and the role to be played by the EU and the UN in the context of the fight against terrorism.
