Visit of EU high level mission on climate change

Lena Hjelm-Wallen, Vice Prime Minister of Sweden, Olivier Deleuze, Representative of the Presidence of the Council and Belgian State Secretary for Energy and Sustainable Development and Margot Wallström, Member of the EC in charge of the Environment visited Japan to prepare for the Bonn Conference on Climate Change (COP 6 - 16-27 July) and to encourage the Japanese government to save the Kyoto Protocol by pursuing its ratification, even without the US. Meetings took place with Makiko Tanaka, Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Joriko Kawaguchi, Japanese Minister for Environment, and Junichiro Koizumi, Japanese Prime Minister.
