Visit of Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, President of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, to the EC

Chandrika Bandaranaika Kamaratunga, President of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, visited the European Commission. She met Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission; Margot Wallström, Member of the EC in charge of the Environment; Christoper Patten, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations; and Philippe Maystadt, President of the EIB. She was accompanied by Lakshman Kadirgamar, Sri Lankan Minister for Foreign Affairs. Chrysantha Romesh Jayasinghe, Head of the Sri Lankan Mission to the EU was also present. The aim of the visit was principally the signature of an agreement on textiles and the signature of a framework agreement between the EIB and Sri Lanka.
