Signature of the Treaty of Maastricht

The Treaty on European Union, and the Final Act were signed by the twelve Community Member States during a ceremony which was held in Maastricht. The signatory Ministers from the 12 Member States included Bertie Ahern, Irish Minister for Finance, Pierre Bérégovoy, French Minister for the Economy, Finance and Budget, Jorge Braga de Macedo, Portuguese Minister for Finance, Hans van den Broek, Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs, Guido Carli, Italian Minister for the Treasury, Efthymios Christodoulou, Greek Minister for the Economy, Gerard Collins, Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gianni De Michelis, Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, João de Deus Pinheiro, Portuguese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Roland Dumas, French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mark Eyskens, Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Danish Minister for Economic Affairs and Taxation, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, German Deputy Federal Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Douglas Hurd, British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth, Jean-Claude Juncker, Luxembourgish Minister for Finance and Labour, Wim Kok, Dutch Minister for Finance, Francisco Fernández Ordoñez, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Francis Maude, British Financial Secretary to the treasury, Philippe Maystadt, Belgian Minister for Finance, Jacques Poos, Deputy Luxembourgish Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs, External Trade and Cooperation; Minister for the Armed Forces and Police, Antonis Samaras, Greek Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carlos Solchaga Catalan, Spanish Minister for the Economy and Finance and Theo Waigel, German Federal Minister for Finance. The ceremony was chaired by Aníbal Cavaco Silva, Portuguese Prime Minister and President in office of the Council, Egon Klepsch, President of the EP, Jacques Delors, President of the CEC, and Ruud Lubbers, Dutch Prime Minister.
