First meeting of the Jenkins Commission

The first meeting of the Commission of the EC under the Presidency of Roy Jenkins took place on 6 January 1977 and has seen the participation of the college of newly appointed Members of the CEC:
Wilhelm Haferkamp, Vice-President of the CEC in charge of External Relations, Finn Olav Gundelach, Vice-President of the CEC in charge of Agriculture and Fisheries, Lorenzo Natali, Vice-President of the CEC in charge of Enlargement, Protection of the Environment, Nuclear Safety, Contacts with Member Governments and Public Opinion on Preparation for Direct Elections to the European Parliament, François-Xavier Ortoli, Vice-President of the CEC in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs, Credit and Investments and the Statistical Office, Henk Vredeling, Vice-President of the CEC in charge of Employment and Social Affairs and the Tripartite Conference, Guido Brunner, Member of the CEC in charge of Energy, Research, Science and Education, the Euratom Supply Agency, Scientific and Technical Information and Information Management and the Joint Research Centre, Richard Burke, Member of the CEC in charge of Taxation, Consumer Affairs, Transport and Relations with the European Parliament, Claude Cheysson, Member of the CEC in charge of Development, Etienne Davignon, Member of the CEC in charge of Internal Market and Industrial Affairs and Customs Union, Antonio Giolitti, Member of the CEC in charge of Coordination of Community Funds and Regional Policy, Christopher Tugendhat, Member of the CEC in charge of Budget and Financial Control, Financial Institutions, Personnel and Administration and the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities, and Raymond Vouel, Member of the CEC in charge of Competition.
