Presentation of the MUS-E initiative by Yehudi Menuhin, Edith Cresson, Member of the EC, and Enrique Baron Crespo
The violinist Yehudi Menuhin, and Edith Cresson, Member of the EC in charge of Science, Research and Development, the Joint Research Centre, Human Resources, Education, Training and Youth, presented the MUS-E initiative in Brussels, in the presence of Enrique Baron Crespo, former President of the European Parliament. This is a multicultural project aimed at promoting arts education and preventing racism and violence at school, by teaching the arts, in particular music. The pilot phase for the setting-up of the MUS-E project in Europe, was completed with a seminar which was organised in Brussels, from 14th to 17th November 1998, by the "International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation", in collaboration with the Directorate Generals X (Culture) and XXII (Education, Training, Youth) of the European Commission.
