The signature of the Treaties of Rome by the governments of the six Member States, took place in the Hall of the Horatii and Curiatii at the Capitole in Rome. This treaty establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC-EURATOM) envisaged in particular the setting up of a customs union and the creation of institutions: The Commission, the Council, the Parliament and the Court of Justice.
