Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Ireland
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Limerick, Ireland, where the American computer retailers Dell announced at the beginning of the year that they would close their factory and cut 2400 jobs. Following this announcement, the EC approved an application from Ireland for assistance from the European Globalisation adjustment Fund. José Manuel Barroso also met local politicians, civil society and women groups to explain the Lisbon Treaty.
