The company Light Environment Control (LEC) located in Barbate, Andalusia, Spain, became the first company in Europe to light an entire city with LED technology. In 2011, they received the Award for Innovation granted by the University of Seville. They received a European regional development funds to develop an integral plant for LED technology, where they bring together research, design and production, the aim being to foster innovation in this Spanish region and create opportunities for skilled employment
