The agreement will significantly deepen political and economic relations between the EU and Georgia.During his stay, Štefan Füle signed, together with Georgian authorities, a Memorandum of Understanding, launch the Single Support Framework for EU support to Georgia, which sets strategic objectives and priorities for future cooperation in 2014-2017. Public administration reform, agriculture and rural development and justice sector reform will be the three priority sectors. These will be complemented by support to the implementation of AA/DCFTA and support to civil society.Štefan Füle also announced a first package of EU assistance for 2014 under the new Single Support Framework. The fresh funding is designed to help Georgia implement the DCFTA and facilitate trade reform and private sector development, with a particular focus on small businesses (SMEs). On 19/07, José Manuel Barroso travelled to Rio de Janeiro to visit Porto Maravilha project, one of the major revitalization initiatives for Rio’s Centro district, with Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro. The city government was working on this project, with the Urban Development Company of the Region of Port of Rio de Janeiro (Cdurp - Companhia de Desenvolvimento Urbano da Região do Porto do Rio de Janeiro), under the 2016 Olympic Games countdown. The day after the President visited the Roberto Burle Marx Foundation in the Rio's Barra de Guaratiba district, together with Marlon da Costa Souza, Head of Technical Service of the site of the Roberto Burle Marx Foundation. The Action Plan sets down specific measures and targets to complete the project, which is being supported by 78 million euro worth of investment through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Pompeii major project was approved in March 2012 by the EC. A presentation of the Action Plan, its official signing, followed by a press conference, took place at Pompeii's Auditorium. The attendees were Johannes Hahn, Graziano Delrio, Under Secretary of the Italian Council of Ministers, in charge of Territorial Cohesion Policy and Sport, Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister for Cultural Goods and Activities and Tourism, and Stefano Caldoro, President of the Campania Region. The two Presidents discussed development and assistance support, the need for a Security Sector Reform and Fisheries. During their joint press conference José Manuel Barroso notably highlighted that the EC would support the country with an assistance package of 60 million euros. Domingos Simões Pereira took office on 04/07/2014 following the legislative and presidential elections of April/May 2014. These elections were a major step to the restoration of constitutional order in the country and towards political stability. The approval was conditional upon the full implementation of a commitments package submitted by Telefónica. The Commission had concerns that the merger, as initially notified, would have removed two close competitors and important competitive forces from the German mobile telecommunications market and that it would have further weakened the position of Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) and Service Providers to the detriment of consumers.
