Economic and Financial Affairs Council, 3619th meeting: doorstep by Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the EC

On 25 May 2018, Vladislav Goranov, Bulgarian Minister for Finance, chaired the 3619th meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council, in Brussels in Belgium. The EU Ministers for Finance met with Ministers from the Western Balkans and Turkey to discuss strengthening fiscal frameworks to contribute to economic convergence. The Ministers discussed the economic situation in the light of the Commission's spring economic forecast. The Council agreed on measures aimed at reducing risk in the banking industry, strengthening rules on capital requirements and on bank recovery and resolution. They assessed 'in-depth reviews' of macroeconomic imbalances, and discussed projections for age-related expenditure in the Member States. The Council approved measures to boost administrative cooperation in the area of VAT. The Council also adopted a directive on transparency as regards tax intermediaries.This video shows a doorstep given by Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the EC in charge of the Euro, Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union.
