On 19 June 2014, Lars Bay Larsen, Judge at the Court of Justice of the EU, read the judgment in the case C-507/12 Saint Prix on Citizenship of the Union. The Court stated that a woman who gives up work or seeking work, because of the physical constraints of the late stages of pregnancy and the aftermath of childbirth can retain the status of ‘worker’; to do so, she must return to work or find another job within a reasonable period after the birth of her child.
