On 23 May 2014, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy and Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship (pro term), and László Andor, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion and Consumer Policy (pro term), held a joint press conference on the partnership agreements with Greece and Poland adopted by the European Commission. The agreements set down the strategy for the optimal use of European Structural and Investment Funds in both countries' regions and cities for 2014-2020. The EU investments will help tackle unemployment and boost competitiveness and economic growth through support to innovation, training and education. They will also promote entrepreneurship, fight social exclusion and help develop an environmentally friendly and a resource-efficient economy.
