On 21 May 2014, in the wake of devastating floods in Serbia, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy and in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship (ad interim), who oversees the Solidarity Fund of the European Union (FSUE), met with Ivica Dačić, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Jadranka Joksimović, Serbian Minister without Portfolio responsible for European integration in Brussels. Topping the agenda was the question of aid that could bring the EU through the EU Solidarity Fund, a fund designed to help countries and regions to rebuild after a major disaster and cope the costs of rescue and recovery. Serbia has declared its intention to seek the assistance of FSUE.
