On 21 May 2014, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy and Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship (pro term), received Ivica Dačić, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Jadranka Joksimović, Serbian Minister without portfolio responsible for European Integration, to discuss how the EU can help Serbia recover and meet the costs of rescue and recovery after major disasters that hit the country. Serbia can apply by 5 August for the European Solidarity Fund - set up to respond to major natural disasters and express European solidarity to disaster-stricken regions within Europe.
