On 27 February 2014, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, went to Manchester to visit the site of the future National Graphene Institute, together with Tina Stowell, UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
This Institute had benefited from an EU contribution of 29.5 million euro from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It had also been awarded the Graphene Flagship by the EC which is one of the first ten year Future and Emerging Technology flagships. The Institute co-operates with other universities, research centres and companies in applied research which helps take graphene from the laboratory to the market place. SHOTLIST
