On 4 September 2013, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland. On this occasion, he visited the Shetlands and Orkney and discussed how far European funds were going to promote these isolated areas. He also met with members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and with Nicola Sturgeon, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities of the Scottish Government before heading to a press conference to discuss Scotland's progress with regional funding. At lunch he discussed regional policy with the Scottish Parliament Local Government and Regeneration Committee and EU reporters from other committees. He rounded off his trip with a meeting with Lord Wallace of Tankerness, Advocate General for Scotland.
