European Eco-Driving Contest with the participation of Günther Oettinger

Günther Oettinger, Member of the EC in charge of Energy, drove a short track around central Brussels, starting at the Berlaymont building while trying out ‘OpenCarData’. Open Car Data is a Smartphone application which helps driving energy-efficiently and save money and fuel and is not yet available on the market. Günther Oettinger handed out a prize to the winner of the "European Eco-Driving Contest", which took place on 26 June 2013. EUSEW participants will have competed against each other to become the most energy-and cost-efficient drivers using the Smartphone application which monitors real-time fuel consumption in relation to the user’s driving style and translates this into the equivalent of Euros ‘saved’ or ‘lost’.
