Results of the Regional Ecosystem Scoreboard

The analysis of the Regional Ecosystem Scoreboard is presented using several spider graphs in several levels: dimensions, sub-dimensions and components. These spider charts show the value for the selected region (represented by a solid line and shaded area) in comparison with the average of the group of the selected peer regions. The minimum and maximum values among the peer group are also represented in the graph. All the indicators and composite indices are scaled between 1 (best value) and 0 (worst value). Hence, the closer your region is positioned with respect to the outer border and the larger the shaded area with regard to the scores of your region, the better positioned your region is.

Results for the six dimensions

Results for the seventeen sub-dimensions

Results for the specific indicators

Comparative results are given by the individual indicators, which allow gaining deeper insights about the quality of conditions related to the specific indicators of each dimension such as Entrepreneurship, Knowledge basis and skills, Collaboration and Internationalisation, Access to finance, Demand Conditions and Quality of governance.

Entrepreneurial Conditions (E)

Knowledge basis and skills (K)

Collaboration and Internationalisation (C)

Access to finance (F)

Demand Conditions (D)

Quality of governance (QG)

Regional Ecosystem Scorecards

Alternatively to the graphic representation, the detailed results of your region are presented in the following Policy Action Dashboard as well. The Scorecard shows the value for the normalised indicator, the rank of the region as compared to all regions in Europe, the mean value in Europe and the minimum, maximum and mean values for the group of peer regions. The Policy Action Dashboard gives a feedback about the policy areas to improve.

The colour code shows whether your region presents a relative advantage (green), relative disadvantage (pink) or neither or them (orange) with regard to its peers. Relative advantage and disadvantage in calculated on the basis of standard deviations from the mean value. The bottleneck reference region indicated in the table below corresponds to the region among the peers that is best positioned for the particular indicator and which could be studied in order to improve the given framework condition.

Policy Action Dashboard

The Policy Action Dashboard has been designed to provide a feedback of the specific areas that should be addressed by policy action. This so-called bottleneck analysis helps to identify the dimensions, sub-dimensions and specific indicators the alleviation of which would help reach the biggest gain and would improve the most the overall quality of the regional ecosystem in case other factors stay unchanged.

The light bars in the barchart below represent the actual value of your region on each indicator.
The bars with a darker hat are those indicators, the increase of which would result in a 10% overall increase in the composite indicator for your region.
