OLAF FREEPHONE EXTENDED

OLAF/04/21 Brussels, the 15 November 2004

Citizens from the ten new Member States and Romania can now also inform on fraud cases against the financial interests of the European Union by means of a free telephone service that makes it possible to communicate with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) in Brussels.

This comes as an extension of the already existing Freephone serviceAll available translations. which is now available for the citizens of 26 European countries. Citizens from these countries can leave a recorded message in their own language, reporting suspected cases of corruption or fraud against the EU budget. All communications are assessed by OLAF investigators.

In the past twelve months OLAF has opened 10 new investigations on the basis of received Freephone messages.

A page dedicated to the FreephoneAll available translations. service is available within the OLAF web site.
