OLAF GIVES EVIDENCE AT THE TRIAL ON THE "MONTENEGRO CONNECTION" INVOLVEMENT IN INTERNATIONAL CIGARETTE TRAFFICKING

The Bari Court of Assizes (Italy) today held a key public hearing in the trial of leading members of the international cigarette smuggling organisation that imported cigarettes into the European Union through Montenegro in the second half of the nineties.

During today's proceedings, witness evidence was given by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). The Office played an important role in investigations that led to charges being brought against tens of Italian and Swiss citizens, including Francesco Prudentino, Costantino Sarno and Sandro Cuomo.
