VISIT OF A DELEGATION OF THE ITALIAN SUPERIOR COUNCIL OF MAGISTRATURE TO OLAF

On 29 January 2003, a delegation representing
the Italian Supreme Council of Magistrature,
under the leadership of Professor Virginio
Rognoni, Vice-President of the Council
has made an information visit to the European
Anti-fraud Office. They have been welcomed
by the Director General of the Office
Mr. F-H BrÃner. During their visit the
Delegation were able to deepen their knowledge
of the Office and discussed matters relating
to the co-operation and assistance offered
by the office to the national judicial
authorities in the framework of the creation
of a European area of liberty security
and justice and the establishment of a
European Public Prosecutor.

is a constitutional Body envisaged by art. 104
of the Italian Constitution which is read as
follows:
"The magistrature constitutes an autonomous
order and independent of all other powers.
The CSM is chaired by the President of the Republic."
