Thematic Study on Child Trafficking - Slovenia

The study provides comprehensive information on anti-trafficking efforts to combat child trafficking in Slovenia. It specifies information on ratification and implementation of international instruments, National Action Plans and measures are taken to assist child trafficking victims. The country report constitutes summaries from which the FRA report "Child trafficking in the EU - Challenges, perspectives, and good practices" has been compiled.

Slovenia - 4. EU AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

National Coordinator is collaborating well with his EU colleagues as well as the colleagues from the WB region. He has also contributed to establishing a better cooperation between national coordinators from the WB Region with the EU national coordinators. He is a member of the Informal Network of National Reporters of EU or an Equivalent Mechanism to prevent trafficking in human beings and of  the informal network of NATC of SEE region.

Slovenia - 1. GENERAL INFORMATION

The fight against trafficking in human beings was given political momentum in December 2001, when Slovenia set up an Interdepartmental Working Group (IWG) on the issue. This was followed by the appointment of a National Coordinator. The tasks of the group are to prepare periodic action plans and supervise their implementation; prepare periodic reports for the Government; and assist the national coordinator in preparing proposals to enhance the efficiency of politics and actions to combat trafficking in human beings.

Slovenia

An independent National Rapporteur has not been established in Slovenia. However, the National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, de facto fulfils the same function as an equivalent mechanism. The NC was appointed in February 2002 is based at the Ministry of the Interior.

The National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator prepares annual reports and strategic documents that are submitted to the Government.
