This document combines a research paper on trafficking in human beings for domestic servitude and the report of the Tenth Alliance against Trafficking in Persons Conference - 'Unprotected Work, Invisible Exploitation: Trafficking for the Purpose of Domestic Servitude. At the end a list of key recommendations for action to tackle trafficking in human beings for domestic servitude is attached.
The research paper attempts to define the concept of domestic work, introduces relevant actors and good practices and asks the question 'Why does trafficking occur in domestic work?'. The Alliance Conference highlighted experiences and challenges that participating States, civil society and international organisations encounter in prevention of trafficking for domestic servitude.
