Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council Fighting trafficking in human beings: an integrated approach and proposals for an action plan (18/10/2005 - COM (2005) 514 final), 18 pages
The purpose of this Communication by the Commission is to strengthen the commitment of the European Union (EU) and the Member States in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings, for purposes of sexual and labor exploitation. The Commission summarises what has been done on European and international level and give recommendations for future action. The Commission stresses the importance of an integrated human rights-based approach and a coordinated policy response. The policy response should particularly include the areas of freedom, security and justice, external relations, development cooperation, employment, gender equality and non-discrimination.
